The line art from this crumple reminded me of a child riding a bicycle. As a young boy, I spent many rainy afternoons riding around the streets of my small town. I always wanted one of those bright yellow raincoats to wear on those deep blue days.

I don’t approach the piece with a concept, but instead allow the pattern to inspire me. These patterns inspired the koi fish, for me, which is the color scheme I finished the canvas in. You might see something different.
The Crumpled Series is a wide ranging multi-disciplinary approach to expressing the beauty that can be found in randomness. Each piece begins by simply crumpling a piece of paper. The lines, shapes and patterns are interpreted into unique artworks. They could become drawings, paintings, sculpture or something else entirely, but they all have one thing in common.
