My sons have been fans of Ancient Aliens, so as the head piece started to come together while I traced the patterns, I thought immediately of an alien queen. Once I brought it into Adobe Illustrator, the colors picked themselves.
Crumpled paper is the common denominator in all of the pieces in this series, but the random patterns give the flexibility to go in many different directions. I used a metallic bronze paint on the robe of this royal character. In the next iteration, a larger painting or possibly a sculpture, I hope to use gold leaf.
